About Us
Our History
Infant Loss Resources began with a simple yet profound mission: to bring comfort, education, and hope to families grieving the sudden, unexpected loss of a baby.
Founded in 1977 as the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Resources Center, our organization emerged in response to a growing need for support and understanding surrounding infant deaths that often left families with more questions than answers. What began as a small, grassroots effort has evolved into a regional leader in grief support, safe sleep education, and community outreach.
In 2008, we changed our name to Infant Loss Resources to reflect our broadened mission. We now support families affected not only by SIDS but by all forms of Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) and other sleep-related infant deaths. Our services have expanded to include:

-
One-on-one grief support from trained professionals
-
Safe Sleep education and crib distribution across the state
-
Community-based training for childcare providers, healthcare professionals, and caregivers
-
Peer connection and healing events for families walking similar paths
Each year, we support 80 to 90 newly bereaved families and reach thousands more through education, prevention, and advocacy.
For over four decades, our commitment has remained the same: to walk beside families during their darkest moments and to work toward a world where fewer families experience this kind of loss.
Family Support
At Infant Loss Resources, our dedicated team is here for families, friends, coworkers, childcare providers, and anyone touched by the tragic loss of a baby to SUID, sleep-related causes, or sudden infant death.

We provide not only emotional support, but also up-to-date, medically sound information to help families navigate the often confusing and painful questions that follow such a loss. Our staff works closely with healthcare providers and trained volunteers to ensure that each family receives coordinated, personalized care during their time of unimaginable grief.

Each year, we support approximately 80 to 90 new families. These services are offered at no cost because support should never come with a price tag when families are facing such heartache.

Every family’s story matters. And we are here to provide the connection, clarity, and comfort that can help make the path forward just a little more bearable.

Here is Diane’s family story. We were truly honored to walk alongside them and offer a small measure of peace during their journey.
